Katsuhiro OTOMO
Katsuhiro Otomo is a Japanese manga artist, animator, screenwriter, and film director. He is best known for his manga Akira, which has been adapted into two animated films, a live-action film, and a video game.
Otomo was born in 1954 in Katsushika, Tokyo. He began drawing manga at a young age, and his first published work was a short story in 1971. In 1973, he created the manga Domu, which was serialized in the magazine Young Magazine. Domu was a critical and commercial success, and it helped to establish Otomo as a major manga artist.
In 1982, Otomo began work on his magnum opus, Akira. Akira was serialized in Young Magazine from 1982 to 1990, and it was collected into six volumes. Akira is a cyberpunk manga that tells the story of a group of teenagers who are caught up in a conflict between two powerful political factions. Akira was a critical and commercial success, and it has been translated into more than 20 languages.
