Character Description: Byzas was the legendary founder of Byzantium.

Byzas was a bold and adventurous man who set out on a quest to find a new home for his people. He traveled far and wide, and finally came to a place on the shores of the Bosphorus Strait. He knew this was the perfect place to build a city, and so he founded Byzantium, which would later become Constantinople and then Istanbul.
