One of his experiments involves swapping the brains of a young woman named Valla Dia and the elderly Jeddara of Phundahl, Xaxa. Valla Dia's lover, Ulysses Paxton, is determined to get her back, and he teams up with other victims of Ras Thavas to rescue her. They succeed in kidnapping Xaxa and reversing the brain exchange, but Ras Thavas is not finished with them yet. He travels to Phundahl to get revenge, but he is defeated by Paxton and his allies. In the end, Ras Thavas is forced to give up his body-swapping experiments and live a normal life.
