Yakovlev Yak-7B was born in the Soviet Union during World War II. She was designed as a two-seat trainer aircraft to help pilots familiarize themselves with the Yakovlev family of fighter planes. Yak-7B was equipped with a powerful M-105PA V-12 liquid-cooled piston engine, making her a formidable fighter in her own right.
