Mistress Nell Quickly
Mistress Nell Quickly is a tavern keeper who runs the Boar's Head Tavern, a popular gathering place for Sir John Falstaff and his rowdy friends. She is a sharp-tongued woman who is not afraid to speak her mind, and she often finds herself in the middle of the action. In Henry IV, Part 1, she is the one who tells Falstaff that his old friend, Prince Hal, is now the King. In Henry IV, Part 2, she is the one who helps Falstaff escape from the sheriff's men. And in Henry V, she is the one who helps Falstaff get drunk and make a fool of himself in front of the king. Mistress Quickly is a complex and fascinating character who is full of contradictions. She is a good-hearted woman who is loyal to her friends, but she is also quick-witted and sharp-tongued. She is a hard worker who runs a successful business, but she is also a bit of a gossip. And she is a woman who is not afraid to stand up for herself, even when she is up against powerful men. Mistress Quickly is a memorable character who adds a lot of color and excitement to the Henry IV plays.
