Kenshin offers to teach Makaru the ways of the sword, and Makaru eagerly accepts. Under Kenshin's tutelage, Makaru quickly becomes a skilled swordsman. He also learns about the importance of justice and compassion. Makaru eventually becomes a great samurai in his own right, and he uses his skills to help others in need.
